Water in the Wood

In August, The Sable Ensemble - a curated company of artists - lives off-grid on the Sable Land and collaboratively creates a new show from scratch in just three weeks.

This process is an embodied experiment in collaboration, collective living, & artistic practice. Each artist in the company has a unique creative background, from dance to carpentry to clowning. What happens when a coalition of artists come together to create something new? All while living together, off-grid in rural Vermont?

This is year 8 of asking these questions! The photos above are from 2023 by Ella C Flo and 2024 by Julia Barstow. Come experience Water in the Wood 2025!

August 22nd & 23rd. Limited tickets will be available at the door, so we encourage buying them ahead of time, as we are aiming to keep each performance viewing intimate!

IMPORTANT INFO: There will be multiple intimate performance showings (of the same show!) throughout the evening! Please show up at least 15 mins before your selected viewing time.

Folks are welcome to arrive as early as 5:30 for any selected viewing time, and are encouraged to hang out on the beautiful Sable land before and after their selected time slot.

All throughout the evening Fat Dragon Farm will serve delicous wood-fired pizza. There will also be art installations created by members of the Sable ensemble to interact with/enjoy.

Sable is an off-grid, outdoor community event space!

For this event, the main performance area will be on our enclosed stage, up 3 stairs total. There will be seating on the floor and on chairs and benches. If you need to reserve a chair or have any questions please feel free to email bex@thesableproject.org !
