LIVING AT SABLE

Sable is off-the-grid! We live in the woods in Vermont’s Green Mountains. There is no electricity, cell service or wifi. See our About The Sable Project, Mission and Values, The Sable Land, and Sable’s Structures pages for more details.

Artists will be provided with a tent platform. They are expected to bring their own tent and outdoor gear. Sable has a communal kitchen, a covered stage/performance space, three shared mini studios, an open-air wood-fired oven (in the shape of a dragon!), potable water, and a bathhouse (complete with shower and flushing toilet!) to round out the amenities. Sable provides food and general art supplies to all Artists.

What Sable Provides:

  • Water - potable drinking water

  • Food - full access to our gardens and food for all meals; mostly vegetarian with occasional meat

  • Tent platform - 8feet x 8 feet

  • Communal kitchen

  • Covered stage

  • Three mini studios (plus one more in progress!)

  • Bathhouse with flushing toilet and shower

  • Basic art supplies

What You Bring:

  • Tent

  • Basic camping equipment

  • Art supplies specific to your practice

Logistics:

Artists are welcome to bring a car. The road up to Sable is a 4th class dirt road so we advise folks to be very careful in low-clearance cars. If no car, there are multiple buses and trains that get you within 45 minutes of Sable, and from there we can coordinate a ride to pick you up. In keeping true to our mission to live simply, we ask that artists keep trips off the Sable Land and the use of electronics to a minimum.
