Application Open for 2024

Looking to build your photography portfolio? Want to meet other artists and grow your network? Dreaming of living outside this summer? Come to Sable!

The Sable Project is an off-grid artist residency program and community space in the Green Mountains of Vermont. We bring together artists of all disciplines seeking space, time, and a place to focus on their art. We also host a bi-weekly public performing arts series - called Food and Art Fridays - serving pizza by Fat Dragon Farm and showcasing both works-in-progress by artists in residence and a live performance by a headlining Guest Artist.

We are currently looking for Photo/Video Interns for our upcoming season!

You will work closely with The Sable Team and Sable's artists in residence to hone your skills and strengthen your creative voice. Come join the adventure, and help us document the process!

Details:

  • We are looking for creative, self-starting, and curious individuals for this internship.

  • Photography skills required and developed in this internship include: understanding of aperture, exposure, focal length, and composition, as well as communication.

  • Photo/Video Interns will document all aspects of Sable, including artwork in progress, artists' performances, our Food and Art Friday events and performances, daily living, and the transformation of the Sable Land. In regular check-ins we ask for a certain amount of content for Sable's social media, newsletters, and website. All deliverables and expectations will be discussed in depth and agreed upon at the start of the internship.

  • Dates: Internships can be 2-10 days in length, within the following Residency time-frames: June 6-16, June 20-30, July 4-14, July 18-28, August 8-9, August 19-24. Preference given to those who can be present for our Food and Arts Fridays on June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, August 7-10, or the Water in the Wood showcase August 23 & 24.

  • This is an unpaid internship. Sable provides all meals and general supplies, a tent platform, and a tent if needed (this is an outdoor camping residency - all Sable Artists live on the land in tents). Transportation within Vermont can be reimbursed; from beyond Vermont, transportation reimbursement can be discussed and determined based on available budget. Sable has a Canon 5D Mark II camera you are welcome to use.

  • As part of living at Sable, Interns will be expected to participate in the everyday tasks of living off-grid in community, including tending the gardens, kitchen tasks, and general upkeep of the land. See the residencies/workshops page for more details.

  • Interns are also welcome (and encouraged!) to work on their own creative projects while at Sable; they have the entire Sable Land as their playground/studio for the duration of their stay.
