Roan Wade (they/them) is a mixed-media artist and activist based in New Hampshire. Currently, their art practice focuses on the rise of grid aesthetics as a byproduct of surveillance capitalism and imagines ways we can subvert the surveillance state as a form of resistance.

While at Sable, they worked on a series of pixelated sculptures made by shredding and weaving photos taken from 90s calendars. They also worked on a series of drawings created from charcoal impressions of leaves found around Sable, imposed on gridded paper.

An interesting fact about Roan is that their middle name is Vandyke - named after the lesbian separatist movement, where a group of lesbians changed their last names and lived in their vans.
