Scotty Hardwig is a dance artist originally from the Appalachian mountains of southwest Virginia. His stage work, dance for camera, and site-specific installations have been shown domestically and internationally. With a unique movement aesthetic inspired heavily by performance improvisation and poetic anatomies, his work has been described at once as “subtle,” “Gothic,” “irreverent,” and “rebellious.” He recently received his MFA in dance from the University of Utah, a Dance Magazine award for performance, and is the 2014-15 Artist-in Residence in Dance at Middlebury College.
