Sophie Steck (she/her) is a Brooklyn based visual artist who makes drawings, paintings and sculptures in mixed mediums.

At Sable, she spent time developing several new paintings, ideas for future pieces and the visual language of symbols that reoccur in her work. She wrote and drew, read poems by Robin Coste Lewis from "Birth of the Sable Venus" and collaborated with fellow artist in Residence, Gianna, in a writing and drawing exchange.

She makes great blackberry salad dressing and excelled at playing soccer in a skirt. She knows many games and taught several fun ones at Sable including "Killl the Fuzzy Bunny (or Protect the Rice Bowl)" and "Grass or Toast".
